Monetize your website with Google Adsense

If you surf the web regularly, and this is probably your case if you are reading this tutorial, then you have most likely already seen advertising on many websites. Have you ever wondered how these advertisements arrived on these websites and what they served?

Now that you are a webmaster (and a webmaster knowing how to reference his site in addition to that!), You may be asking yourself these questions. We will answer them in this chapter and we will come out a little of the theme of SEO. That said, as I have already said, web marketing and SEO are inseparable ideas today.

Advertising on the web:

What is the purpose of advertising on the web?

Advertising … vast subject. In this chapter I will try to explain what it serves and why it is there… anyway on the web, otherwise we risk not getting out. It would take at least a second course to explain all aspects of advertising, and I myself do not have the skills to explain all of this here.

Advertising, if you look good, you have a little everywhere around you … the web does not escape. For example, the Zero Site broadcasts advertising as well as Facebook or YouTube. The wealth of web technologies makes it possible to find it in several forms:

A hyperlink to HTML;

An animation made with JavaScript;

An animation made with Flash;

a picture ;

a video ;

So will I also be able to earn money through my website with advertising?

Yes ! You can also earn money through advertising on your website, provided that it is already online and accessible. This is actually the only two conditions to be able to advertise on your site and start making money. If your site is in production, you can now start advertising it. Of course, the ads you show will not earn you millions if your site only makes two or three visits a day. This is normal since you’re starting out, but that’s the idea.

How to advertise on your site?

To have the ability to serve ads on its site, it must use the services of an advertising agency . This is yet another term that we are going to have to define, but it is not very complicated to understand. To copy a little Wikipedia: an advertising agency is a company like Google, which puts Relations advertisers and publishers . This definition is not so much about you, I want you especially to restrain the terms of advertisers and publishers .

The problem is that there are a lot of advertisers, and a lot of potential publishers. Advertisers in principle want their ads to be displayed on sites with themes related to their product. For example, if Nintendo wants to advertise on the web to promote a new Zelda, Nintendo will want the ad to appear on Zelda-themed websites and this is normal. In this way, it is known that advertising will be of interest to the visitors of the website, and that the public who will see the advertisement will have a much easier tendency to stop on advertising, to click on it, and to buy the game. This helps the  publisher and the advertiser to make money. This is what is known as targeting . Of course, I have only given you a very simplistic idea of the matter. Marketing specialists would gladly say that you take into account a lot of elements so that the visitor who comes face to face with advertising wants to click and buy.

In any case, the role of intermediary between you and the advertisers is played by the advertising network. As a potential publisher, you will have to register for the advertising program of a board, the one of your choice. The advertisers will, in turn, “entrust” the advertisements their advertising to broadcast on websites. From then on, the board will send to the Webmasters to display the ads.

Advertise on Adsense

I told you previously, during this tutorial we will mainly talk about the Google Adsense rule. Google Adsense is generally Google’s ad network. It was founded in 2003 while Google was looking for a way to generate more money.

Google Adsense is currently the world’s largest ad network on the web, it is found everywhere. Here are a few places where you can see ads from Google Adsense:

Content websites, such as the Zero Site; YouTube videos; The Gmail service; The Google search engine.

You can see that Google uses its system on its own platforms to generate money with its own services. You can find Google Adsense on the search engine SERP, in the Gmail service, or in YouTube videos.

What interests us most is the ability to show adsense ads on a personal website. To do this, it is very simple, first of all you have to register your site to the program Adsense and, if your account is accepted, you will be able to disseminate Adsense ads there. First, it will need a Google account .

But why Google Adsense asks me for a mailing address?

To pay you! Concretely, each time a visitor clicks on a banner ad on your site, you will earn money. Once your earnings reach a certain threshold, Google will send you a check by post, a check you can cash with your bank. It will therefore be necessary to think of informing a correct postal address, so that is how your cheque reaches you.

However, we are not there yet. It will first have to propose your website to Google Adsense.

Click ” Yes,

connect with a Google Account ” and log in.

you are now at step # 2 listing your site to Adsense. It’s time to submit your website to Google. To do this, Google makes sure to remind you of the five main points of its Adsense program.

Above, we offer you a form with two fields to fill:

The URL of your website.

The main language of your website.

Then click on the “Continue” button to access the third and final step of registering your site with Google Adsense. For this last step, we offer a form, still a little more provided to fill. This includes your full name, address and telephone number. Do not forget that this information will be used by Google to send you your payments, so enter valid data. Once you’re ready, click the button “Send my request ” to send your request to Google Adsense.

The validation phase of your site

Once your request is sent, Google Adsense will review the information you have sent. Your application can either be accepted or rejected. Here are the most frequent causes of rejection:

Inaccessible website;

Incorrect personal information;

User banned in the past.

Once Google has analyzed your site, you will receive an e-mail giving you their response to your request. Think about checking your mailbox from time to time, as well as your spam. If your application has been rejected, do not panic, the rejection is not final. In the event that the rejection was motivated by the too low quality of your content or your site, you will always be able to retry your chance later once your site is more successful. Normally, Google Adsense accepts all websites, provided they are properly built. Even small websites with very few visits are generally accepted, although they are unlikely to return revenue to the board.

If you were the owner of an old Google Adsense account that was banned in the past, Google will not accept that you have a new Adsense account, and will not agree to reactivate the old one. There is therefore very little chance that you will re-enter the program. On the other hand, if you have been admitted, which will certainly be the case if you have applied the advice given on the Zero Site, then you now have access to the Google Adsense interface.

Good to know: the validation phase of a website for the Google Adsense program is not provided by robots. They are indeed real human beings, hired by Google, who are in charge of carefully examining the websites proposed one by one. You therefore have no chance to offer a computer program by stating false information.

You should also know that the Google Adsense team, which is made up solely of human beings, does not work on weekends! If you have proposed your site on a Friday night, do not expect to receive an answer before Monday morning of the following week!
